Colombo: Sri
Lanka resumed batting from overnight score of 14-1 on the second day with
Michael Vandort and night watchman Chaminda Vaas at the crease here at the P
Sara Oval on Saturday.
On Friday, Sri Lanka
ended day one on 14 for the loss of opener Warnapura in response to India's
first innings total of 249. Even this would have been beyond reach but for a
tenacious half-century last wicket partnership that hauled India past the 200
mark.
After the famed Indian
batting line up once again fell like a pack of cards, it was left to Ishant
Sharma and Zaheer Khan, who eased the team to 249 in a partnership that yielded
51 runs off 20.2 overs with Zaheer scoring 32 before falling victim to the
second stumping of the innings by Prasana Jayawardene off Ajanatha Mendis.
But minutes before the
stumps were drawn, lanky pacer Ishant Sharma gave India a reason to smile with
the wicket of Malinda Warnapura. |
